The MCIS_V1 model has been developed to provide a simulation of discharge in the Morland catchment. It consists of five bucket models for the five categories of land use in the Morland catchment. The buckets each have a unique field capacity threshold which responds to time series data for evaporation and precipitation.

Coefficients have been assigned to surface and subsurface water to produce effective runoff  and subsurface flow from available water within the bucket.

User guide

The discharge simulated by the model can be compared to observed discharges measured in the Morland catchment on a unit hydrograph produced with each model run.

Users can also manually change land use cover percentages, precipitation and evaporation  inputs to produce bespoke hydrographs. These outputs can help inform stakeholders of the response of the Morland catchment to likely land use change and climate scenarios.
