Land use scenarios

The MCIS_V1 model has three inbuilt realistic land use scenarios which display the impacts of land use change on the hydrological regime of the Morland catchment. The three land use scenarios are the following:

1. A subcatchment of the Morland catchment is converted to intensive agriculuture in order to meet an increased food demand

2. All riparian zones of first order streams within the Morland catchment will have a 20 metre forested buffer strip planted in an attempt to imporve water quality in the catchment

3. A second subcatchment within the Morland catchment will be afforested in a Forestry Commission campaign to reduce atmospheric CO2.

More information on these land use changes can be found in the land use scenario sub-pages
